Managing the camera during a video call / meeting

EMDESK provides integrated video meetings through its built-in video platform. During meetings, you can easily manage your camera settings to control your video visibility and participation.

Camera Controls in Video Meetings

To turn on/off your camera during a video call, click the Camera icon in the meeting control at the bottom panel.

Locate the camera icon in the meeting toolbar at the bottom of your screen

Click the camera icon to toggle your video on/off

When the camera is on, the icon appears highlighted and other participants can see your video

When the camera is off, the icon appears dimmed and your video feed is disabled

Virtual Backgrounds: While your camera is on you can choose a virtual background by clicking the Action menu icon at the bottom panel and selecting Select background.

In the displayed panel you can choose between none, blurry background, strong blurry background or provided background images. Click + to upload an own background image.

Switching Between Cameras

While your camera is on, you can switch between cameras using the up arrow at the camera button.

The video platform provides additional camera options through the settings menu:

Click the three-dot menu in the meeting toolbar

Select Settings from the dropdown menu

In the settings panel, click on the Devices tab

Choose your preferred camera from the Camera dropdown if you have multiple cameras available

Adjust video quality settings if needed

Pre-Meeting Camera Setup

Before joining a meeting, you can configure your camera settings:

When entering a meeting room, you'll see a preview screen

Your camera preview appears in the center of the screen

Use the camera toggle button to turn your camera on/off before joining

Click the settings gear icon to access device settings

Select your preferred camera from the available options

Click Join meeting when you're ready

Camera Privacy: Your camera status is visible to all meeting participants. When your camera is off, other participants will see your name or avatar instead of your video feed.

Troubleshooting Camera Issues

If you're experiencing camera problems during a meeting:

Check if your browser has permission to access your camera

Ensure no other applications are using your camera

Try refreshing the meeting page

Check your camera settings in the meeting's device settings

If issues persist, try rejoining the meeting

Browser Permissions: Make sure your browser has permission to access your camera. You may see a permission prompt when first joining a meeting - click "Allow" to enable camera access.
