About Analytics

EMDESK Analytics helps project managers and teams monitor, analyse, and report on their projects, turning financial data into insights to keep projects on track, efficiently use resources, and manage budgets for successful outcomes.

To access the Analytics view, you must have at least Read access rights to the "Resources" section, to one or more activities in the "Workplan" section, and to one or more participants in the "Participants" section (see "Roles, access levels, and access rights").

Planned vs Actual Reports

Follow the instructions below to find the Analytics section and access the reports:

Click on the Analytics button on the left side of the menu bar.

Select the report category  that you would like to see.

View the charts: The first part will show the planned vs actual costs as a chart and table, and by scrolling down, you will find the planned vs actual effort chart and table. 

Planned vs Actual Costs

The Planned vs Actual Costs report provides charts and bar graphs to compare the planned budget against the actual costs reported, helping you monitor budget performance and identify cost overruns.

Planned vs Actual Effort

The Planned vs Actual Effort report shows charts and bar graphs that compare the planned effort against the actual effort worked, allowing you to track work progress and assess team performance.

Report Categories

EMDESK Analytics offers a variety of reports to help you understand different aspects of your projects, from participant involvement to budget and time management. These reports provide detailed insights into planned versus actual performance, enabling you to make informed decisions and keep your project on track.

Available reports:

  • Participants / Activity Types: This report shows how finances and efforts of participants are distributed across different activity types.
  • Participants / Time: This report shows how finances and efforts of participants are scheduled and spend on various project activities over a defined time interval.
  • Activities / Time: Analyse the time allocated to and spent on different activities over a defined time interval.
  • Activities / Participants: Analyse the budget and planned expenditure of project participants on specific projects and activities and how much cost and effort has already been consumed.
  • Participants / Cost Categories: Track how the budget and planned effort of the participants is planned per cost category and how much cost and effort has already been spent per category.
  • Activities / Cost Categories: Analyse the budget, planned effort, expenses and actual effort in detail in the various cost categories across all projects and activities.
  • Activities / Personnel Cost Rates: Analyse the budget, the planned effort, the expenses and the actual effort in detail in each participant's different cost rates across all projects and activities.
